SELECTED WORK

Directing creative across 25+ festivals annually.

Building the visual systems and standards that let a distributed team of designers and production crew execute at a consistent, elevated level.

Directing at Scale

When I was instructed to create this department, the first challenge was how to address the massive amount of festivals Insomniac produces. I identified the repeat tasks that could be centralized for all departments to access documentation. I created the company design library to keep all engineering documents, technical drawings, fabrication decks and rendering for all reusable elements. The library now houses over 350 individual strucutures.

From this library I was able to automate various tasks to read this master document aiding in Project Manangers being self sufficent in preproduction.

My team's developed style guides are created per show area basis and utilized to create consistancy within all elements produced for the festivals.

Touring Productions

EDC and Beyond Wonderland taught me how to design for travel. Building visual systems robust enough that a different city, venue, and local production crew can execute them and still deliver the same show. I develop the core assets, materials, and reference packages that carry the look across 10 markets each year, with light thematic evolution season to season to keep the shows feeling alive without losing what makes them recognizable.

Permanent Venues

Of Insomniac's permanent venues, Factory Town Miami is the deepest example of my work in long-lasting environments. I led design direction across the multimillion-dollar renovation, setting the visual language for multiple stages and elements, and built a full 3D model of the venue in Sketch Up to guide construction and keep every vendor working from a single source of truth.

Annual Festivals

Of all the annual festivals Insomniac produces, Forbidden Kingdom and Escape carry the strongest thematic worlds, and the ones I've had the longest hand in helping shape.

Each year I push the visual language further: new zones, deeper material and lighting direction, evolved show elements, building a world guests want to return to and rediscover, not just revisit.
